Vying for a Spot in Google 3 Pack? These Tips Will Help Your Local Business Beat Competitor

A visibility on the SERP first as the sponsored ad and then as the regular listing, with highlights on the 3-pack, will qualify you to get the best local traffic.

(Newswire.net -- February 28, 2017) -- Minneapolis, MN --Do you want your local business to outperform its competitors? If you do, you need to start thinking about innovative marketing strategies that will help you reach your goals. If besides doing plain SEO and backlink building, you focus enough on local SEO, and utilize the best local keywords to highlight your region and specialty together, then success may beright at the door, and you may see your business appear in the Google 3-packs.

But if you are miles away from Google 3-packs, here is a smart way to deal with your promotion and local SEO. Instead of working day and night to find position in the Google 3-packs, which is again not the last word on Local SEO, you may try some pure organic ways which are crafted in the most suitable waysto boost your ranking on local search results.

Looking at the competition —try pure organic strategies

While it's true that getting placed in theGoogle 3-pack fetches your site the desired number of traffic, you should also note that it is becoming increasingly difficult for sites to get to that position. The tough competition and the number of new businesses in the race are the reason behind that, and you need to explore better and more effective ways to shine before your local target visitors.

It's not just that you are only fighting the competition for the 3-packs. It is also to be remembered that you are fighting the 4 sponsored ads which Google shows in each search results page. Hence, your competition to get viewed in a search result page is also with those 4 ads. In fact, now the sponsored ads get displayed in the 3-pack too, right before the first link on the pack, which challenges the visibility of your page even if you manage to get placed in the 3-pack.

The problem with the businesses is that they have a tunnel vision approach. This means they are focused on only one thing, one aim, or one vision. This makes them idle at working on other arenas which could have fetched them equally better results. Focusing all your energy on ranking in the 3-packs for local optimization may not be the best thing to do, when a little effort on other organicways can bring you great traffic. Here are a few tips that will help you get started:

Find out how competitors are appearing in the position where you want to be

There must be competitors that are giving the same service or product as you are, and are getting better traffic, more highlight, and a better visibility than you. If you can spot them, then the next job is to find out what exactly they are doing to get the limelight. The things you needto find out are the set of local keywords, which is bringing your competitor the desired SERP and traffic, and also the authority site links your competitor islatching on to for getting better ranking, credibility and traffic.

There are great tools to evaluate these things, and by using them, you may get a clear picture of how many backlinks your competitor has and where they are. You will also get to know why they are enjoying the Local traffic and ranking high.

Realize the importance of growing voice searches

There is a substantial difference between how you express yourself while writing and how you do it while being vocal. That is why search queries differ greatly when people are using voice search. The keyword which you are using for Local SEO may not be the same as what users would speak in to their phone while voice searching the same. The best way to find out is to speak it up on your own.

How would you look for a service when you are asking somebody rather than typing it on the computer? Use those same phrases for local SEO as keywords when you include the probability of voice searches for the local people to find you on the web and contact them.

With the increasing searches from mobiles on the go, and with the increasing integration of voice searches with major mobile manufacturers, your target visitors may search through mobile by simply speaking to the phone, which is unlikely in case of PC users.

The integration of "near me"

"Near me" searches form a strong pillar of local SEO. The tendency of users to search with keywords including this text is increasing every day. As result, the implementation of "near me" in any good keyword or phrase will fetch you better results in local rankings.

Ads will continue to dominate the web space, and if you believe you need a stronger and stable platform to shine in the SERP, you better take the three way route to the success. This includes organic SEO, good Local SEO, and also some SEM blendedtogether. This will complete your promotional efforts, and this extra push, brought in by the paid to click ads, will help you out. However, only ads will not do the job. Your credibility will be increased when visitors find your ad on the top followed by your site listed after the advertisement. This will imply that your presence is highlydominating, and that you did not only pay to get that position. To reach that goal, you have to shell out money as well as do all the hard work on organic and local SEO.

Finally

It is observed that people don't doubtthe quality if the brand or manufacturer is already a credible name. And your visibility on the SERP first as the sponsored ad and then as the regular listing, with highlights on the 3-pack, will qualify you to get the best local traffic.

How Voice Search Affects SEO - and What You Can Do

man talking to a scupltureVoice search platforms now engage with natural conversational phrases by better interpreting meaning and context. PHOTO: Peggy and Marco Lachmann-Anke

In the hurried, fast-paced world we live in, it seems only natural that hands-free voice search is fast becoming the next big technology sensation.

Apparently, it's not enough to have the World Wide Web at your fingertips or even at the push of a button. No, now we want to have it at the tip of our tongues — and ask what, where, how, why and when almost anything with voice command software.

New voice-enabled devices were a breakout hit with consumers in 2016 — and now a growing number of devices and technologies mean voice search will become even more entrenched in homes and businesses in 2017.

The Big 4 Voice Offerings

However with Amazon, Google, Windows and Apple all having voice search systems to their names, how will SEO fair in this dialogue revolution? Let's start with a look at the competition.

Cortana is an intelligent personal assistant created by Microsoft for Windows 10, Windows phone, Xbox One, iOS and Android.

Google Assistant is an intelligent personal assistant developed by Google for its Home device and Pixel smartphones. Just yesterday, Google announced plans to roll it out to non-Pixel devices running on Android 6.0 and up

Siri is an intelligent personal assistant and knowledge navigator developed by Apple for use on Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. A report from Digitimes last month cites a source claiming Apple is working on an improved version of Siri.

Amazon Alexa is an intelligent personal assistant that can powers several smart devices, including the popular Echo, an internet-connected speaker that listens for your instructions.

Voice Search Evolves

Across platforms, a new era of voice search is evident.

Voice search platforms now engage with natural conversational phrases by better interpreting the meaning and context behind them. For example, here are a few of the perks from Google Assistant.

Search history: If you ask for a the specific height of something, say a giraffe and follow that up with the query 'I want to see pictures of it' Google is able to interpret what 'it' is, based on your initial search, delivering pictures of the giraffe and stats on how tall. Clever!

Alternatively, you can help Google narrow down an answer through context if it's struggling. Say you ask "Where are the Cairngorm mountains?" Voice search may not respond because you are asking about a lesser-known mountain range in Scotland. But if you ask, What are the mountains in Scotland' first, and follow that up with the query 'How high are the Cairngorm mountains', Google will tell you that it's '1,309 m in elevation'.

Location Context: For example, if you ask Google to show you the how far it is to the airport or to anywhere. It will take into account your current location and calculate the journey time from there, without having to specify where you are. It knows!

Context about you: If you ask Google, "What's my address?" it can now interpret who "my" is and obtain the information you require, without you having contextualizing yourself.

How Voice Search Affects SEO
  • With technology changing and adapting to meet the needs and demands of consumers, it's important that SEO changes with it.
  • With voice here to stay, incorporating voice command into our websites as well as increasing the amount of quality, conversational style content are imperatives.
  • So what optimization strategies can we use?

    Long Tail Keywords

While it's unlikely that one word, short tail keywords will ever vanish entirely, they don't exactly fit with the natural, conversational tone used in voice searches. We don't want to feel like we're talking to machines anymore. We need to focus more attention than ever on personalized, long tail keywords.

    Informal Content

Writing content in a natural, conversational tone — you'll be speaking the consumer's language, the language they use in voice search. Since Google doesn't penalize for voice search friendly, the websites that are seen to adapting to the voice search world are the ones incorporating (voice) search strategies for typers and talkers, alike.

    Schema Markup

One of the latest evolutions in SEO, a new form of optimization, a semantic vocabulary code used on websites is here to help return more detailed, informative results for users.

For example is someone searches for a music venue, by applying Schema to the SERP, (Search Engine Results Page) you can instruct the results to show a list of upcoming dates beneath the original search. This helps to promote your own business but also giving the searcher what they want, without having to always ask for it.

    FAQs

Voice searchers ask questions typically with Who, What, Where, When, Why and How — and they're looking for quick fixes to their search problems. Have a page for Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) that begins with each of these adverbs. Then answer them conversationally and informally.

6 SEO Must-Haves for Web Designers & Developers

    SEO tips for designers

The design and development work on a website doesn't end with setting it live. Having a clean, W3C-validated code and an eye-catching design will surely help you get on the railroad to success. Yet, if you're looking into building a website that truly stands out from the rest and provides a high-end user experience there are several points of consideration you need to take care of.

Contrary to some popular beliefs, search engine optimization includes a wide spectrum of key processes that go beyond keyword targeting, link building, and raw data analysis. SEO is all about user experience that includes a user-centric design, as well as a personalized browsing experience and website interactions.

Show Your Website to The World

The first step you need to take after launching your website is making sure it's submitted to Google. To make sure your site gets crawled, you can manually submit your site to Google. There are several reasons why your website could stay unindexed for a long time, some of which include a missing sitemap, slow loading time, hosting downtime, duplicate content, and more. Work together with your developer to see what might me causing the issue and try to submit your site again once you've figured it out.

    Update Your Content Regularly

A static website that's rarely updated will hardly grab the attention of the user and the same goes for web crawlers. If you're keen on improving your position in the SERP you'll need to refresh the content regularly. Adding new graphical content, including images, videos, and other media types are one way you can update the copy of your website without actually writing new articles and web pages. The new content will let crawlers know you're still working on your website. Just make sure you're filling the alt tags and descriptions appropriately to help Google better understand the value of your graphic content.

Increase The Bandwidth of Your Website

As your website starts to build traffic you'll need to expand the amount of hosting space the site uses to accommodate more users at any one time. Too many users on a server will slow the site down. Expanding your hosting space will allow more users to access the site together. Having an expanded bandwidth also means you can upload more images and content on your site. Running a website with a low bandwidth might be a good initial approach but once you start accumulating more traffic and expanding your website, you'll see that having less bandwidth can hinder your performance in the SERP.

    Create a Captivating Landing Page

No matter if you're building a web store or a personal blog having a properly designed landing page extremely important if you want to truly make an impression to your visitors. The landing page design and layout should take in consideration the target user's persona. Creating a great user experience means personalizing the design of your landing page so that it resonates with the needs, style preferences, and content expectations of your visitors.

    Building a Responsive Website

As more and more devices are entering the consumer market, traffic starts coming from a variety of sources with a different screen size and ratio. This creates the need for a flexible website design that changes accordingly to the user's device. While in the past, many websites could rely on a separate mobile version, nowadays, search engines require websites to provide a complete flexibility that supports multiple devices and web browsers.

Don't Forget the 404 Error Page

There will be times when unfortunately your visitors might stumble upon a broken link or an unexisting page and you'll need to be prepared for that. Having a well-designed 404 error page will reduce bounce rate and guide your visitors to other pages that might interest them. Some creative approaches towards optimizing your 404 error page are adding a list of popular content to the page or even integrating a mini game that keeps the user interested and blocks his initial autoresponse of bouncing off a broken page.

Account-Based Marketing and SEO: 4 Reasons They’re Perfect for Each Other

how to optimize ABM with SEO

Whether you're just getting started with account-based marketing or you've been doing it for a while, you may be looking for new ways to maximize your efforts. One effective way to amplify the results of your ABM approach is to make sure it's incorporated into your SEO strategy.

A strategic approach to SEO as part of an account-based marketing strategy increases personalization, drives engagement, and enables data-based decision-making. For these reasons, SEO and ABM are a perfect pairing:

    1. SEO Helps Target and Personalize ABM Content

The first steps of any ABM approach should be defining your list of target accounts and identifying their internal stakeholders. Completing these tasks is critical for success with the next step: defining a personalized, targeted content strategy.

SEO shines here because it provides insight into what types of content key players at target accounts are looking for. In one sense, modern SEO was doing this kind of personalization long before ABM became widely practiced. Keyword and user intent research—core components of modern SEO—are highly effective practices for defining the types of content you need to create.

An SEO campaign starts by building a list of target keywords and analyzing them for user intent. Keywords will include products and services that are core to your brand and your industry, those you are already ranking well for in Google Search Console, terms used in your search function on your site, etc.

Analyzing user intent means typing those keywords into Google and studying the organic search results. Look for insights that answer the following questions:

  • Are users looking for information or products? If the results for your keyword searches are mostly definitions of the term or industry "how to" articles, that means the target audience is looking for information. If the results are mostly product pages, users are probably looking to purchase a solution.
  • Who is most likely consuming this content? If the language/tone is speaking to executive-level readers and content is more philosophical, those keywords are most likely being used by the C-suite. If the content is mostly detailed instructional articles, those terms are probably being used by lower-level influencers and practitioners.
  • Where does this information fall in the buyer's journey? If it's early-stage information, like definitions of key terms, the keywords are probably being used by someone at the very beginning of the buyer's journey. If the content is more late-stage, comparing vendors or offering free trials, those keywords are more likely being used by audiences who are ready to make a decision.
  • Here is a piece of a user intent research that shows some of the insights that can be gained:

    Insights from user intent research

To perform user intent research for your organization, group keywords that produce similar organic search results into composite groups and analyze them for user intent collectively. These insights can direct strategic recommendations for the types and topics of content that should be created or optimized to meet the needs of your target account segments.

As you expand your keyword strategy to include long-tail keywords (keywords that are four or more words), add your industry, physical location, and/or target audience as appropriate. Building out a list of long-tail keywords can start by adding, "for the finance industry," "in Los Angeles," or "for CFOs," for example.

As your account-based marketing team prepares to create targeted, personalized content, user intent insights can help identify the language that your target account leads are using in organic search. It can also help plot content along each persona's buying journey so each piece of content answers the right questions and presents an appropriate CTA.

    2. SEO is Always an Optimal Channel

Once you've determined your target accounts and have personalized content to engage them, it's time to determine the optimal channels for your campaigns. Every organization will prefer different channels, but organic search should always be a priority:

  • 71% of B2B decision-makers begin their journey with a general web search.
  • Users perform an average of 12 searches before visiting a specific brand's site.
  • Google recently experienced 91% growth, over two years, in B2B researchers using mobile search throughout the entire path (not just the initial stages).
  • If your campaign content and landing pages aren't optimized for search, you risk losing your target accounts to competitors who excel in the search engine results page (SERP). Start by making sure your technical SEO is clean and set up properly. Then, focus on engagement: make sure your content is educational, engaging, and popular.

    3. SEO Helps Execute Targeted ABM Campaigns

Once you begin executing campaigns, the keyword and user intent research you conducted earlier will be crucial as you start mapping your targeted content to specific buyer journeys.

If you were going to map SEO-related keywords to a buyer journey, for example, it might look something like this:

    keywords along the buyers journey

These user intent insights allow you to coordinate targeted ABM campaigns—starting with organic search, but crossing channels to wherever your audience can be found. Good, targeted content can easily be shared on your website, in emails, repurposed for various social channels, etc.

Use SEO best practices to execute campaigns that drive target account stakeholders further into the purchasing path with every engagement—both on your website and through your inbound and outbound campaigns.

    4. SEO Provides Valuable Metrics for Optimizing ABM Campaigns

The final step of an ABM implementation is measuring, learning, and optimizing. Measuring the effectiveness of ABM campaigns requires a different approach than measuring broad-reaching marketing campaigns. Valuable ABM metrics focus on engagement and penetration, and these can be more difficult to measure—and report—than reach and lead volume metrics.

By adopting standard SEO metrics strategies, you can easily track the effectiveness of your ABM campaigns and the engagement they are driving:

  • Tag URLs for off-site campaigns using a tool like Google Tag Manager. Tags can be used to segment traffic in your analytics program, so you can see exactly how much traffic targeted ABM email and social campaigns are driving to your site. As traffic from these campaigns grows, you can measure and report an increase in awareness of your brand, products, and services among key players at target accounts.
  • Review bounce rates and % exit values for ABM campaign landing pages and other targeted/personalized content. High bounce rates signify that the page content is not driving visitors further into the funnel, and % exit values allow you to measure the percentage of visitors who left your site without performing another action. Low bounce rates and % exit values indicate that targeted stakeholders are interested in your content.
  • Set goals to measure changes in awareness and engagement over time. Determine the path you want key stakeholders to follow when arriving from a campaign, and set that path as a series of goals to measure and report on your ABM campaign effectiveness. Over time, you should see an increase in goal completions; if not, it's time to investigate the issue and optimize your content/funnel to sustain engagement.
  • Measuring ABM campaigns can be simplified with a comprehensive marketing platform, but standard SEO metrics strategies provide an effective means of tracking important metrics in lieu of more advanced tools.

Adopting SEO for Successful Account-Based Marketing

The best practices of modern SEO seek to provide audiences with informative, targeted, quality interactions. In that way, SEO and ABM share many of the same goals and are powerful when paired.

If you're just getting started with ABM, consider SEO in each step of your implementation. If you've been executing ABM for a while without satisfactory results, take a step back and consider how you can adopt SEO into your approach. Conducting basic keyword and user intent research is a great starting point. It allows you to identify where your content is missing the mark and provides detailed information on how to resolve the problem.

Are you practicing ABM? What other strategies are essential to your success?

Unwrapping the Secrets of SEO: “What Should I Write About?”

    "What should I write about?"

Anyone asking this question might often have two answers. There are two opposing forces one must consider: "What's happening in our business?" and "What truly matters to our customers?" We're Unwrapping the Secrets of SEO this week to discuss this conundrum: What should you write about?

Searchmetrics Explores the Frontiers of Search

If you Google "what you should I write about," you'll get about 532,000,000 results. But these 10 organic blue links of quizzes and inspirational quotes are not entirely helpful, let alone actionable for creating content that is valuable to consumers and profitable to your online business:

Screen Shot 2017-02-21 at 12.23.56 PM

    What Should I Write About?

OK, maybe we're asking Google the wrong question. Instead, what if we asked "What should I write about that my customers care about?" Badly structured sentence aside, what you're essentially asking in this case is what topics will afford me greater exposure and response to more customers?

To know the answer, you need data. Data on what questions your prospects are asking. Insights on what the related topics might be worth including. And intel on the seasonality of the topic at hand so that you can determine its relevance to your audience, both real and potential.

Collectively, this is the kind of data that informs your writing on topics that are interesting to your customers, and content that is a valuable use of your time to produce – especially if it's designed to add to your bottom line. For example, let's say you're an editor at a review website (think IMDB or Rotten Tomatoes) and you want to bolster content around the movies section. You've made every top 10 list under the sun – horror movies, rom-coms, kid-friendly flicks. You name it, you've made it and published it.

But what happens when you've exhausted this approach? How do you know what to write next?

This is where data on search volume and seasonality comes in.

The Keyword Discovery area within the Searchmetrics Research Cloud is a great place to start.

    What's In a Word?

Let's look at searches based on a mood that might be brought about in inclement weather. We see "rainy day date ideas" has a decent search volume. What's interesting is that the seasonality of this query is fairly consistent throughout the year, indicating a fairly reliable level of interest from consumers. Very quickly, you'll see whether this is a topic worth discussing, as well as the best time of year to do so.

    rainy day

What about "anger management?" No, not your boss yelling at you for researching rainy day date ideas when you should be working. You're researching this topic, and quickly determine that search volume of 96,614 means you're on to something. There are a bunch of comedies, (for example, "Liar, Liar") that might fit into the top 10 list you're creating. At this rate, you've identified that searches related to feelings (inspirational, breakups, fantasy sports, etc.) have a healthy search volume, which equates to a high level of consumer interest. Ostensibly, it's a great opportunity around which to create content. With this overview, you also start to get insight into when this type of content would be relevant.

    anger management

    Captain, We Need More Power!

What's that you say? The engines so far aren't going past idle for you?

When you need competitive keyword data to help identify what kind of evergreen topics you should write about, here's how the Searchmetrics SEO Experience can help.

To take an example from the sports world, say you wanted to write evergreen content on Tom Brady in an effort to capture search traffic from your competitors. One approach would be to use a Searchmetrics feature called the Competitive Keyword Overlap that lets you compare any two domains to understand what terms are unique to one domain versus those which they have in common.  We show the data of shared keywords visually and in list format.

    Competitive Keyword Overlap

In essence, this feature will allow you to "spy" on your competitors rankings and pluck terms which are common to both yet would be the most relevant to your audience. In the case of our Tom Brady example, the opportunity lies in reviewing the list of Shared Keywords, finding terms that relate to the quarterback star and using that to inform the content you produce which resonates with your site's audience and interests.

This answers the question "what should I write about that my customers care about," especially when you can do a better job of expanding upon the intent behind those keywords. Surprised to see an interest in the keyword "tom brady wife?"  You shouldn't be but maybe you're not into supermodels.

    Tom Brady

Still, we see the search volume data, which indicates interest based on a topic we want to create content around.  So, ask yourself, "what kind of content could my domain offer that our competitor does not?" Alternatively, you could browse the list of Unique terms to determine where you might be able to take market share and organic traffic away from your competitor.

    Leveraging Universal and Extended Search

Another data-driven approach to writing about topics that prospects care about is addressing "pain points" – otherwise known as the questions users type into the Google search box.  This is where you can leverage the Projects section of the Searchmetrics SEO Experience. With a set of project keywords (terms that are important to you to monitor), we can see which of those keywords and their URL that rank for Extended Search or Universal Search integrations.

    Universal search

Direct Answer Box and People Also Ask Box

It's what you might call "thinking inside the box." By using these filters, we can see if the keywords we're tracking have any rankings when someone searches for "disneyland tickets. "

    Filters

By applying these filters, we can begin to see some areas of opportunity where we can proactively take steps to optimize more of the digital assets like videos and images that might (or might not ) be on these pages. We can thus capture organic traffic in Universal & Extended searches for terms like "disneyland hotel," and "hotels near disneyland." These are search terms that carry a high level of SEO value due to their transactional intent.

    Keyword ranking

Two Cents on Mobile Search Terms

Since 2012, the number of Extended Search boxes (Knowledge graph, Direct Answer) appearing in the SERP has increased. Specifically, boxes like Direct Answer and the People Also Ask are where you can garner additional organic rankings if you can succinctly address the questions being asked.

Between the two, Direct Answers are more commonly seen on desktop (10%), whereas on mobile, the opposite is true. We see Related Questions are more likely to appear (10%) on mobile. This is largely due the difference in search intent based on device; the larger desktop screen allows for longer-tail queries and more types of information boxes to be visible above the fold.

Whereas the mobile SERP is smaller, obviously, therefore surfacing related question boxes in an attempt to support queries that might only be 1-3 words. Other mobile-specific elements (such as app packs) are also more likely to be included in the mobile SERP, not the desktop.

It's important to know that more than 50% of all web traffic is now coming from smartphones and tablets, according to Google AnalyticsQ1 2016 data. Imagine how this ratio will increase and continue to evolve in 2017.  And don't get me started on voice search; you wouldn't believe how many times kids love saying "Alexa, tell me a joke!"

Alexa, What's Relevant in Mobile Searches?

To get your arms around what to write about that would be relevant for mobile searches, it's imperative to use a tool like the Searchmetrics SEO Experience, which has the capability to track and inform on rankings based on device. In this way, you can start to tailor localized searches like "find a coffee shop near me" or  to adjust content to shorter, specific searches with the intent of navigating to a physical location ("meet snow white disneyland").  Having data on terms that are informational, transactional in nature AND their device preference will inform your ability to tailor content to your audience based on device preference.

    Tying It All Together

We've all done it: Sitting in front of the computer, staring at a blank page and that blinking, almost mocking, cursor.

There is a way to write smarter when you have data behind the keywords and larger topics that are important to your audience. Data that informs you about seasonality so that your content is even more relevant. It starts with having the right information at your fingertips and asking yourself "what is helpful to my customers and how is my product or brand uniquely qualified to write about this topic."

    Let's make content great again!

NEW: Ranking beyond 10 blue links with SERP feature tracking in Moz Pro

    Feb 20, 2017

Try it now in the [Rankings] tab of any campaign (see the screenshot below) or read the following to check out the new features. New to Moz Pro? Take a free 30-day trial!Step 1: AwarenessAt MozCon 2013, I gave a lecture called Beyond 10 Blue Links, documenting the diversity of Google's features regarding organic results. Many of us at Moz felt strongly that the world of SERP features could have a profound impact on search marketing specialists, and we began to catalog Google changes and collect data to find out how many SERPs were evolving.Early in 2014, we built a prototype to better understand how we could help customers track SERP functionality, but we found that most of our customers did not know them. None of us knew, at the time, exactly what the impact of the SERP features was or how we should adjust our tactics. The idea of perhaps following dozens of types of results was discouraging, especially in an industry where most of us were already wearing too many hats.So we foll owed the data, and we learned with the industry. We have also, I hope, contributed to this education. We built the infrastructure we knew we needed to take the road (a lot of credit to our Silo team), even though we did not know when the turn of this road would come. Eventually - and largely thanks to the growth of Snippets featured - we knew our customers were ready.Step 2: AcceptanceIn August, 86% of SERPs in our 10,000 keyword set had some sort of inorganic functionality (Knowledge Panel, Snippet featured, Rich Snippets, Local Pack, etc.). If you count ads and purchasing results, this number goes up to 97% - the days of 10 blue links have long since disappeared. We recently did an analysis of over 400,000 search results interactions (thanks to Russ Jones) and found that SERPs with rich features send 28% fewer clicks to traditional organic results. At the same time, many of these features, including featured snippets, create new opportunities for non-traditional clicks. Either way, the impact on your SEO is very real, and it is essential to understand what you are against. The challenge in tracking SERP features, such as SEO, is that what matters to you can vary enormously with your niche. I've seen a single radical impact feature on traffic for some sites, while this same feature may have little or no impact on others. Once you have accepted the reality of SERP features, you need to understand how the landscape looks for your own industries and sites:One of the first things you'll see on the new SERP Features page is the overview. This graph shows the presence of features in your campaign, as well as the proportion of features you have listed (if any). At launch, we support the 16 most successful desktop SERP functions. Click the drop-down menu above the graph, and you can extract a Trend Analysis for any function. Good news: we already have a 60-day history available at launch:It's time to accept that the SERP features really exist, and delve into the detail s. By scrolling down, you will see a complete list of your campaign keywords as well as your current ranking, as well as the keyword characteristics displayed the last time we checked them:The keyword list shows all keywords in your campaign, their ranking, and a list of icons indicating which features appear on these campaigns. The blue icons indicate that your site appears in functionality, red icons indicate that your competitor is present, and orange icons mean that you are both
